From Infertility to Motherhood

When my husband and I were diagnosed with “unexplained infertility” several years ago, I wasn’t sure what to do. I felt lost and confused. Not knowing what else to do, we tried In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) with no success, which made me feel in total despair. Until one day, something inside me led me to do something different.

I started taking yoga classes once a week initially. It quickly became an everyday routine. Through yoga I learned to manage the stress of a demanding career and the angst of infertility. More importantly, I realized the importance of loving myself. I became more aware of what my body needs (and doesn’t need), as well as the innate ability for the body to heal itself.

It took nearly a year to bring myself back into harmony – to realign the body, mind, and soul, which then enabled me to conceive naturally. Just when we were scheduled for our second trial of IVF, my inner voice told me not to do it. I trusted my intuition and decided to try to conceive on our own. Two weeks later we conceived!

Looking back, it is clear to me that when my body was out of balance, it prevented me from conceiving. The IVF couldn’t correct my problem with infertility because the drugs (and the stress associated with the process) caused my body to become even more out of balance, making matters worse. When I shifted the masculine energy of ‘make it happen now’ through IVF to the feminine energy of ‘allowing it to happen’ through yoga and meditation, a miracle occurred.  In stillness, I found true guidance. In silence, I was able to listen to that inner wisdom within me.

I learned that fertility is not just about getting pregnant, but it’s about taking responsibility for ourselves in the way we live. It’s about our relationship to ourselves – our body, our thoughts, and our soul – and the world. It became clear to me that my fertility journey was a necessary step in my life for my spiritual awakening – a journey of ‘coming home’.

This experience reminded me of one the most important lessons when taking a big step in my life: to believe in myself and let the higher power to take the lead!

The journey continued with the adoption of our second child. Because my husband is adopted, we felt called to adopt a child. We began with the process when our first son was about four years old. Less than a year later, we met our second son on the day he was born. I’m now blessed with two beautiful healthy sons.

It was my own struggle to conceive that lead me to empower women on their fertility journey. I can guide you on how to believe in yourself and make the necessary changes to overcome infertility and ensure your baby has a healthy start in life. I’ll show you how to prepare your body for healthy pregnancy at least four months before you want to conceive. Preconception care is essential to the health of your child. I also love to share my insight and experience with the adoption process with others if adoption is a consideration on your journey to motherhood.
